Your Impression

This year I had the great pleasure of being selected to contribute to a
daily calendar for business women,  The 2008 Women’s Advantage Calendar.

The
calendar provides advice for women business owners from influential women
leaders across the US and Canadea, and was produced by Mary Cantando, a business growth expert.

The quotes were selected because the idea presented in the quote is relevant to almost
every woman in business today.

So I was paging through my calendar the other
day (I am June 28th by the way – a regular Calendar Girl!) and discarding the
pages when I realized I had a little gold mine in my hands.  The quotes
are great!  And really simple reminders of what we might want to focus on
daily.

This quote was contributed by Lisa Hickey of Douglass
Screen Printers -

"You put your handprint on everything you touch; make sure it leaves a
positive impression."

For me this week – obviously, my big ole handprint is all over my book!
And I am SO THANKFUL that I was able to spend one solid weekend poring over the
pages so that it could go out being the best it could be.  It ALMOST went
out when I was in a state of – "I am so sick of this book I could throw
it! – and you know what state that is!"

So what impressons are YOU leaving behind?  How does someone feel after
they get your voicemail?  How does someone feel when they get your
website?
How does someone feel after you talk on the phone?  Are you
leaving behind the impression you want?

Give it some thought and let me know what impressions YOU leave behind by leaving a comment here!

  1. I recently found an exercise that is worth looking at. You ask people that know you at various levels (acquaintances, social friends, close friends, clients, etc) to tell you three words that they would say characterize you. As you see what they say you will find out what “brand” you have created. In creating a personal brand, you need consistency between what you mean your brand to be and what others actually see. By working with your natural tendencies your “brand” eventually starts showing in what you do.

After reading your blog and thinking about this exercise, I realize that I need to make my website reflect how I feel about my work instead of being just a page I threw up onto the Internet. My website definitely does not leave the impression I want it to leave.

Thanks for the thought provoking post.
