The last newsletter I wrote before heading off to vacation was about NOT doing it all, and only doing the things that make sense for your business goals and objectives.
So my business was “all caught up” as I went off to a solid week of no work, and my vacation did just what a good vacation should do – it cleared my head so that new and exciting career thoughts could show up – I love that!
By the time my vacation was over, I was so excited to get back to work! I had new and exciting ideas, and couldn’t wait for Monday morning – I even did all of my email cleaned up on Sunday night so that Monday could be dedicated to getting some of my great new thoughts on paper.
And then it happened, like is so often does for me – and maybe you too. All of my great ideas turned into extreme overwhelm, and I was quickly where I was about six weeks ago – so much to do, with no clear direction – so I was frozen! Again! Twice in one summer!
I started off on a bad foot – I basically did nothing for half the day which eventually made me feel bad about myself. So I got SOME things done, then when to bed and didn’t sleep at ALL because my head was spinning with all the time I wasted AND all the things I didn’t do.
So the next day, I knew what I had to do – I had to stop resisting, and just roll with it!
Apparently, regardless of the fact that I am brimming with ideas, I am just not ready to get it all out and get on with it. So I went into “productive procrastination” mode, which I really enjoy when I allow myself to enjoy it!
I cleaned out my jewelery cabinet, I cleaned out the cabinets under my sink and I straightened up (my already very organized!) closet. I swear, every step I take towards de-cluttering is going to free up my mind to get my REAL work done – and I feel great!
Next time you feel yourself resisting, give yourself a little break, and use “productive procrastination.” You just might find yourself right where you need to be!
Have a great week!
