Redesign and Staging Business Fears Continued

Yesterday we spoke about the fear
of change. Ultimately the world doesn’t stand still no matter how hard we try,
so just knowing and recognizing we have to change can get us into action. So
now we are taking big steps – really taking action – and the fear of failure
grips us!

The fear of failure can
really stop you in your tracks. This isn’t surprising, considering the enormous
social pressure there is to be successful – successful people are winners,
right? But failure IS a part of life, and learning HOW to fail is very
important, since failure can defeat you altogether or keep you from trying a
new venture.

Try to break out of the
mindset that "success = right = good" and therefore

"failure = wrong =
bad."

When you can bend
under the pressure rather than break under the pressure, you will be much
better off
.

A few tips to try when
you are afraid of failure:

1.) Tell someone about
it – the facts AND feelings
– sometimes just stating a fear out loud will give you the courage to
face it and go ahead and try.

2.) Give yourself extra chances. For example, you may know that 1 out of
every 5 clients isn’t going to buy from you. When that client doesn’t buy, say
great! I’ve got that out of the way, now the next 4 will be ready to buy!

3.) Take the chance
and face it.
You
can really reduce the fear of failure by knowing what it can and can’t do to
you – and you will make it through and beat it!

So don’t give up! Take
control of your fear, face it, and charge ahead!

Let me know what fears
you have faced lately, and how you made it through!
