Okay, so
we’ve got the whole year in front of us – what are you doing to make it
the best ever? The operational word here is DOING. Yes, some people will
just show up, but you can really make a difference by doing some leg work
today. Here are a couple of things I do to ensure that I am hopping all the way
through the holidays.
1. Pick Up the Phone - How long has it been since you
have spoken to your CPCs – your current and past clients? Now is the time to
make some phone calls! Often this is the spark a client needs to get started on
a project. Any excuse for calling will do. Try – I saw an item that I think you
would like and it made me think of you – or – it’s been a while just wanted to
see how you are doing – or even – How were your holidays?
Challenge yourself to
call all of your CPCs within the next ten days, even if you are just leaving a
voice mail.
2. Send a personal
e-mail
2. Send a personal
e-mail – For
every person you leave a voicemail for send a follow-up email – for that
matter, send a follow-up email even to those you did speak to. It is SO
EASY for a client to hit reply and you can get a project going just that
easily. Use the same "excuses" listed above to reach out!
3. Send an on-line
newsletter - If
you have an e-mail list that is bigger than just current and past clients – and
I hope you do! – now is the time to send out an online newsletter. This does
not have to be a big deal! Just a quick tip on how to get over the holidays and
into a new decorating year and a reminder to call you to help is all you need -
and you will surely get a client in return.
4. Visit your favorite
vendors – If you
haven’t been in touch with your vendors lately, drop by for a visit. Remind
them that you are – of course! – taking new clients and to be sure to refer
anyone your way – and drop off a new stack of business cards for them to hand
out.
5. NETWORK – Attend 2 networking events in
the next 3 weeks and meet some new people! Again, pitch the fact that it’s a
new year and time to get started on a new home project. Set a goal of meeting
at least 7 NEW people at each of these events – because they just might be or
might KNOW your next best client!
Any and ALL of these
ideas will push business in your direction – let me know what tactic you take
and how it works out!
