Interior Design Business and YouTube

For all of my technological savvy, I have resisted the whole "online video" thing.  And this is one of those things where my preferences – and the way I do things – is not in sync with the rest of the world.  I really dislike watching video online. I am so impatient I can’t even wait for the thing to load – in fact, if a news article is only on video clip – I’ll skip it.  If it doesn’t come with a written article, I just move on.

Recently my cousin Lawrence entered a commercial contest – it is hysterical – see the commercial here and vote for #10 – that’s his!)  It is so funny and creative and really outshines the other submissions.  So here are a couple of lessons I noticed while watching his

clip, and will need to put into play when I break down and get into video.  And these same things should be evident in ALL of your marketing.

1.  The stark color contrast in the video is great!  Black, white, hot pink – you really SEE the video – it is visually appealing.
2.  It’s virtually a little movie – you want to see what’s going to happen next, you’re interested.
3.  It’s funny – you smile along as you watch it – and people buy when they are happy and when you connect emotionally with them.
4.  The message is clear – you know exactly what happens when you use the product!

Are you making sure that your marketing is hitting all of these key points?
Let me know if you have done any business video clips – and how they have worked out for you.
