To recap last week’s issue, there are 3 steps you can take towards getting it all done.
First, I actually DON’T do it all. It may SEEM like I do, but I say NO very often in my work and personal life. And I make this really easy for myself by following these guidelines.
1. Will the action I am doing right now or the action I am deciding to do next help me achieve my vision? That big dream in the sky for me that I want to achieve – will this action help me get there? If the answer is YES, it is an action worth doing. If NO, don’t do it.
2. Will the action I am doing right now or the action I am deciding to do next help me achieve a specific goal? If I have a goal to have 5 new clients in the next 90 days (which helps me get to my vision!) will this action help get me there? If YES, it is an action worth doing. If NO, don’t do it.
3. Will this action help complete a project for my business or my clients? If YES, it is an action worth doing. If NOT, don’t do it.
Phase II looks at these 3 steps a little differently. Now that you know they are worth doing, consider this:
1. What Action is Time Sensitive? What activity that has already met the 3 steps above has to be completed first? Either because it is due, or because another action is dependent on it.
2. What Action is Top Priority? What activity that has already met the 3 steps above will get you the most “bang for your buck?”
3. What Action am I Most in the Mood to Do? If you have activities that meet all 3 of the criteria above, and they are neither priority or time sensitive, you might want to do them just because you are in the mood to do them (TIP: Sometimes these tasks never have to be done at all, you just like to do them cause you like to do them. Make sure they REALLY meet the 3 criteria above!)
Following these tips just might have you doing more than you ever thought possible too!
Have great rest of the week and long weekend!
