Sometimes things are crazier than normal -this is one of those times.
Here are a few things I do to help me “stay on task.”
1. Know what you are trying to achieve. Every day, before I start my day, I look at my overall reason for being in business. “To help other women make their businesses better and make the money they deserve while helping my business do the same.” The simple question – are you working on something that is helping you achieve your goal?
2. Decide what will make the biggest impact towards your reason for being in business. The bottom line is that we can’t actually do everything – even all of the things on our to-do list – so pick the things to work on that have the most impact. And….
3. Be disciplined. When you find yourself and your mind wandering, be strict with yourself. Literally say to yourself “focus!” That small word – spoken out loud – can have a wonderful effect. You might even try standing up and saying it loudly – you’ll get right back on track.
Leave me a comment as to what YOU do to stay focused! I’d love to know and share!

I have a daily, weekly, and monthly “To Do” List which I add to and subract from as needed. I have both a “personal to do” list and a “business to do” list. At the beginning of each month, I block out the specific items that I know I have committed to. Then at the beginning of each week, I make the necessary modifications depending on various factors. Each day, I have a specific “to do” list of tasks to be completed and I cross them off as I do them. (Gives me a sense of accomplishment). I use the technique on client jobs as well, and any other projects I’m working on. I break things down into smaller pieces, while paying attention to the longer term goal I want to achieve.
I stay focused by telling myself to “PAY ATTENTION!” and I do not attempt to multi-task too much. I may have 2-3 things going at the same time, but try to remain focused on the thing I want to accomplish in a given time frame. I also gave up being a “perfectionist” many years ago. I think that came with maturity and the wisdom I gained as I got older.
